ABOTA Third Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser in Santa Rita Hills

Some of the best conversations in the trial bar happen far from the courtroom. On Saturday, October 3, 2026, ABOTA members, colleagues, spouses, and friends will gather in the Santa Rita Hills for an afternoon built around good wine, good food, and the kind of fellowship that strengthens a professional community.

The Third Annual Wine Tasting Event & Fundraiser returns to Lafond Winery & Vineyards in Buellton from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Guests can expect guided tastings, appetizers among the vines, and a relaxed fall setting at one of the Central Coast’s memorable vineyard properties.

The event is $75 per person and includes wine tasting and appetizers. More than a pleasant Saturday outing, the afternoon supports the chapter’s ongoing work and gives members a welcome chance to reconnect outside the pace and pressure of practice.

Who to bring and how to enjoy the day

The invitation is intentionally broad. Members are encouraged to bring a colleague, spouse, or friend. That flexibility makes the event suitable for several kinds of guests.

A colleague may appreciate the chance to meet ABOTA members in a warm, informal setting. A spouse may enjoy seeing the community behind the professional commitments that shape so much of a lawyer’s schedule. A friend may simply welcome a Saturday in wine country for a good cause.

To get the most from the afternoon, guests can keep a few simple points in mind:

  • Arrive on time

The tasting begins at 11:00 a.m., and arriving near the start helps guests enjoy the full experience.

  • Dress for the setting

Vineyard events are best enjoyed in comfortable attire and shoes suited for outdoor areas.

  • Plan transportation thoughtfully

Any wine tasting event calls for responsible planning. Guests should arrange a safe ride, designate a driver, or use local transportation options as needed.

  • Bring a guest who enjoys conversation

The best part of the afternoon may be the people. A colleague, spouse, or friend who enjoys a relaxed gathering will fit right in.

  • Make time to linger

The event runs until 2:00 p.m., which gives guests room to enjoy the wines, appetizers, and setting without hurrying.

Planning your visit to Buellton

Lafond Winery & Vineyards is located at 6855 Santa Rosa Road in Buellton, California. Guests traveling in should allow enough time for the drive, parking, and check-in before the tasting begins.

Because the event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., it fits well into a day trip. Guests coming from farther away may choose to arrive early, enjoy the fundraiser, and then spend time in the surrounding Santa Ynez Valley area.

A few practical reminders can make the day smoother:

  • Confirm the date and time on your calendar.

  • Share the details with any guest you plan to bring.

  • Plan a safe ride if you will be tasting wine.

  • Bring a light jacket or layer, since vineyard weather can shift.

  • Keep the afternoon open enough to enjoy the setting.

The event is meant to feel easy. A little planning helps preserve that feeling from arrival through the final pour.
